David (1979)

The son of a local rabbi sees the rise in anti-Semitism in 1930s Germany, but it isn't until his father's synagogue is burned down and his mother is harassed and intimidated that he realizes just how dangerous Germany has become.

From memory: Subtle and intimate portrayal of a singular fate successfully conveys life and survival in Third Reich Germany.
