House at the End of the Street (2012)

 

After moving with her mother to a small town, a teenager finds that an accident happened in the house at the end of the street. Things get more complicated when she befriends a boy. A double murder is not an accident. 

Highly derivative and unoriginal horror drama additionally disappoints by presenting an ending that contradicts most of the notions planted beforehand; it's not Jennifer Lawrence's fault, though.

Maltin*1/2: "Dull, unimaginative, and overly familiar, it's not even really horror, just a relatively obvious mystery." 

Chloe (2009)

 

 

Suspecting her husband of infidelity, gynecologist Dr. Catherine Stewart hires an escort named Chloe in order to test his faithfulness. Soon, the relationships between all three intensify. 

Disappointing remake of the French movie Nathalie...accentuates the exploitative elements of the tale, and the result is some kind of a threesome love drama - and this despite made by a famed director and a star cast.

Maltin**: "...sexually provocative - with plenty of female nudity - but winds up being downright silly."

 

The Astronaut Farmer (2006)

A NASA astronaut, forced to retire years earlier so he could save his family farm, has never given up his dream of space travel and looks to build his own rocket, despite the government's threats to stop him.

Slow-paced, good-natured satire, implicitly celebrating American wayward entrepreneurship; Billy Bob Thornton is perfectly cast in the title role.

Maltin**1/2: "Thornton is ideal...Capraesque story...is beautifully rendered; only problem is that the guy in question is nuts!"

My Soul to Take (2010)

A serial killer returns to his hometown to stalk seven children who share the same birthday as the date he was allegedly put to rest.

Standard slasher horror movie doesn't add anything new to the genre.
