The Lady and the Monster (1944)

 

A millionaire's brain is preserved after his death, and telepathically begins to take control of those around him. 

Little dark sci-fi nonsense is fairly entertaining; Erich von Stroheim does an excellent job as the mad scientist.

Quiet Please: Murder (1942)

A book thief and forger sells a fake book to a Nazi through a female agent, and a detective tries to uncover who the forger is and gets in the middle of a three way struggle for rare books and revenge in a public library.

Interesting crime drama with a rather complex plot playing mainly in a library; George Sanders steals the show, though.

Convict's Code (1939)

A man is framed and sent to prison for a crime he didn't commit so when he is let out on limited parole, he sets out to clear his name and find the real criminals.

Lively, but average 30s crime drama is quite predictable and only mildly entertaining.

From Hell to Heaven (1933)

The various residents and occupants of a resort hotel await the outcome of a horse race at a nearby track, as it will affect each of their lives in different ways.
