Relic (2020)

 

 

A daughter, mother and grandmother are haunted by a manifestation of dementia that consumes their family's home. 

Above-average horror tale prefers creepy atmosphere over shock effects, but does deliver the goods slowly with tension, suspense and a revealing ending. 

 

The Bookshop (2017)

England 1959. In a small East Anglian town, Florence Green decides, against polite but ruthless local opposition, to open a bookshop.

Sad, melancholic tale is presented in a pedestrian pace, but has a good cast and period details and a heartbreaking ending.

Spectral (2016)

A special-ops team is dispatched to fight supernatural beings.

Well-made, but standard sci-fi fare with a silly plot - and silly science; not really that suspenseful either.

The Party (2017)

A woman hosts a party to celebrate her new promotion, but once the guests arrive it becomes clear that not everything is going to go down as smoothly as the red wine.

Closed-room ensemble piece is a cleverly sinister black comedy so well directed and played you nearly miss recognizing the dark humour.
