Violette (2013)

Violette Leduc, born a bastard at the beginning of last century, meets Simone de Beauvoir in the years after the war in St-Germain-des-Prés. Then begins an intense relationship between the two women that will last throughout their lives.

Strong period biodrama with an excellent ensemble, especially Emmanuelle Devos in the title role credibly portraying the troubled, but talented author.

A chemist loses his job to outsourcing, but, two years later and still jobless, he hits on a solution: to genuinely eliminate his competition.

Off-kilter satire is lively and well-played, but not thoroughly convincing.

Unusual crime mystery with a good cast cast has atmosphere, but some aspects of the plot seem awkward and at times one has the feeling of seeing the continuation of a previous movie.
