The Duchess (2008)

A chronicle of the life of 18th-century aristocrat Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire, who was reviled for her extravagant political and personal life.

Beautifully photographed and staged period drama with a well selected cast may a bit short in conveying its protagonists' motives, but does succeed in emphasizing their tragedy.

Maltin**1/2: "Knightley is well cast as Georgiana Spencer...Vivid, well-appointed yet somewhat heavy-handed adaptation...Knightley and especially Fiennes are excellent but the film lacks a certain spark."

Tamara Drewe (2010)

A young newspaper writer returns to her hometown in the English countryside, where her childhood home is being prepped for sale.

Meandering country town satire, only sporadically amusing.

Reasonable Doubt (2014)

A District Attorney has his life turned upside down when he's involved in a hit and run and another man is arrested for his crime and charged with murder.

Fairly suspenseful thriller with an unconvincing plot and some unpleasant characters; once again, Samuel L. Jackson is worth the watch.
