After the Dark (2013)

At an international school in Jakarta, a philosophy teacher challenges his class of twenty graduating seniors to choose which ten of them would take shelter underground and reboot the human race in the event of a nuclear apocalypse.

The premise is only intriguing at first sight, the movie itself is so pretentious, it may scare off the uninformed from ever taking philosophy serious.

Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003)

During the Napoleonic Wars, a brash British captain pushes his ship and crew to their limits in pursuit of a formidable French war vessel around South America.

Old-fashioned seafarer tale is wonderfully produced and manages to enhance the genre with a highly realistic depiction of life on sea including the battles which are quite spectacular.
