Amour fou (2014)

Young poet Heinrich wishes to conquer the inevitability of death through love, yet is unable to convince his skeptical cousin Marie to join him in a suicide pact.

Interesting, but a bit stiff rendition of a historical literary occurrence adds a tinge of irony to an otherwise quite disturbing tragedy.

Toni Erdmann (2016)

A father tries to reconnect with his adult daughter.

A screwball comedy in slow motion about an unusual father - daughter relationship has some humor and surprising twists, but convinces more by its sharp eye for the abrasiveness and fallacies of corporate business life; and the two central performances are excellent.
