Maltin***: "Not so much a horror film as a goofy sendup of itself, this sequel turns the slimy creatures loose in N.Y.C. Filled with gags, movie in-jokes, satiric barbs, and gratuitous cameo appearances. Glover is especially funny as a Domald Trump/Ted Turner type, and Lee is a delight as a genetic scientist. Be sure to stay with this through the closing credits."

From memory: Monstrously overblown spoof does have lots of brilliant bits and pieces and is occasionally funny, but, in every aspect, there is simply too much going on so that you really can take it all in

Halliwell*: "Absurdly over-budgeted manic farce which substitutes noise for wit and slapstick for comedy; it fails on every level."

Maltin**1/2: "Gargantuan comedy from the bigger-is-funnier school of filmmaking. Some excellent vignettes and dazzling special effects..., but on the whole suffers from overkill."

The Devil-Ship Pirates (1964)

Death Train (1993)

A German Scientist has aided an ex Soviet general in constructing a nuclear weapon which is now in the possession of an American mercenary heading across Europe in a hijacked goods train.

Despite having a star cast this made-for-TV thriller with a far-fetched, nearly ridiculous story can't spark any tension.

On the remote Norwegian Bear Island, used as a submarine base by the Germans during WW2, an U.N. scientist sends a distress signal using an emergency NATO frequency and is received by scientific vessel Morning Rose.

Good example how a production with top credentials results into a mediocre product.

Halliwell (no star): "Highly implausible adventure yarn, indifferently presented."

Maltin*1/2: "One of Alistair MacLean's best novels became one of his worst movies...Strong cast, capable director and scenic locations come to naught."

When a young doctor suspects she may not be alone in her new Brooklyn loft, she learns that her landlord has formed a frightening obsession with her.

 

Mediocre stalker thriller which manages to accumulate all the cliches you'd expect from the often-told plot.

 

Maltin BOMB: "Appallingly derivative stinker, barely released, goes through the usual litany of psychotic moves before screech-halt at a dime. It's incredible that any double Oscar winner would ever wind up headlining a movie like this." 

Night of the Big Heat (1967)

 

 

While mainland Britain shivers in deepest winter, the northern island of Fara bakes in the nineties.

 

Quite tedious sci-fi yarn with a laughable story (and likewise are the aliens); quite a waste for the two stars in the cast.

 

Halliwell*: "Sloppily made and over-prolonged science fiction with far too much irrelevant talk."

 

Maltin**1/2: "Good sci-fi, with Lee and Cushing at their best." 

Sherlock Holmes und das Halsband des Todes (1962)

Sherlock Holmes and Watson do battle with their nemesis, Professor Moriarity, over an ancient necklace attributed to Cleopatra.

Antiquated Sherlock Holmes crime story doesn't thrill much, but has some moments of slight humour.
