Nothing Sacred (1937)

An eccentric woman learns she is not dying of radium poisoning as earlier assumed, but when she meets a reporter looking for a story, she feigns sickness again for her own profit.

Lively and mildly amusing satire is quite dated, but watchable for its wit, fast pace and good cast.

The Bad Sister (1931)

Marianne falls in love with a con artist who has a hidden agenda.

Contrived and wooden melodrama with a remarkable cast, and no, Bette Davis doesn't play the title role.

Halliwell (no star): "A teenager potboiler of its day, remarkable only for its cast."

Maltin**: "...stilted early-talkie melodrama. Davis, in her film debut, is wasted..."

Pot o' Gold (1941)

The owner of a failed music shop, goes to work with his uncle, the owner of a food factory, and as he gets there, he befriends an Irish family who happens to be his uncle's worst enemy because of their love for music and in-house band who constantly practices.

Likeable lively, but rather simple-minded comedy romance entertains, but is marred by - too much music!

Halliwell (no star): "Thin Capraesque comedy which needed more determined handling."

Maltin**: "Very minor item...Stewart called this his worst movie!"
