Little Women (2019)

Jo March reflects back and forth on her life, telling the beloved story of the March sisters - four young women, each determined to live life on her own terms.

Lively, beautifully set and photographed, excellently cast adaptation of the classic and beloved novel; however, the non-linear telling of the tale diminishes the impact of the romances and tragedies and seems to assume the audience already has full knowledge of the story.

Midsommar (2019)

A couple travels to Sweden to visit a rural hometown's fabled mid-summer festival. What begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult.

While made in top quality with an involving performance by Florence Pugh and some unsettling scenes, the plot is quite muddled and offers a disappointing ending.

Outlaw King (2018)

A true David vs. Goliath story of how the 14th century Scottish 'Outlaw King' Robert the Bruce used cunning and bravery to defeat the much larger and better equipped occupying English army.

Professionally assembled history drama with a competent cast, some great landscape cinematography and lively battle scenes, but altogether not that exciting.

Lady Macbeth (2016)

In 19th-century rural England, a young bride who has been sold into marriage discovers an unstoppable desire within herself as she enters into an affair with a worker on her estate.

Intense adaptation of a Russian novel, transplanted from 19th century Russia to the same period in England, fascinates and irritates with a mesmerizing performance by Florence Pugh.
