The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947)
In 1900, a young widow finds her seaside cottage is haunted...and forms a unique relationship with the ghost.
Mildly entertaining, but quite sentimental melodrama made in good style and taste.
Halliwell*: "Charming sentimental fable in Hollywood's best style."
Maltin***1/2: "Charming, beautifully made fantasy..."

Midnight Lace (1960)
In London, a newly-wed American woman's sanity comes into question, when she claims to be the victim of a stalker.
Routine thriller a bit in Hitchcock's vein has some good memts, but Doris Day's performance is a wee bit over the top.
Halliwell*: "Thoroughly silly rehash of Gaslight and The Boy Who Cried Wolf; its glamorous accoutrements can't fight a lack of humour or predictable plot development."
Maltin***: "Shrill murder mystery; unbelievable plot line, but star cast and decor smooth over rough spots."
