A Life Less Ordinary (1997)

Upon being fired, a desperate guy kidnaps a daughter of his former boss. Two angels are sent to Earth to check if love is possible in this case.

The premise, the cast and the director with his team promise much more than this unfunny, uneven oddball comedy actually delivers.

The Burning (1981)

A former summer camp caretaker, horribly burned from a prank gone wrong, lurks around an upstate New York summer camp bent on killing the teenagers responsible for his disfigurement.

Moonlight Mile (2002)

As he copes with the death of his fiancée, a young man befriends her parents and must figure out what he wants out of life.

Saccharine melodrama has a good cast and is well made, but the multiple stories of love and loss have all been told better before.

Halliwell*: "Over-sweet account of how various individuals cope with loss; it has its moments, though they are not as many as one would hope."

Maltin**1/2: "Delicate material is handled with skill and good humor, until the young hero meets a woman who's too good to be true, and the story's credibility is derailed. Salvaged, to a great degree, by superior acting from Hoffman and Sarandon."

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

Fearing that the actions of Superman are left unchecked, Batman takes on the Man of Steel, while the world wrestles with what kind of a hero it really needs.

Above-average superhero drama delivers the goods (mostly mayhem) and adds tension to the encounter of Batman and Superman plus some badly needed help from Wonder Woman, collateral damage included.

Crash (1996)

After getting into a serious car accident, a TV director discovers an underground sub-culture of scarred, omnisexual car-crash victims who use car accidents and the raw sexual energy they produce to try to rejuvenate his sex life with his wife.
