Joe Kidd (1972)

 

An ex-bounty hunter reluctantly helps a wealthy landowner and his henchmen track down a Mexican revolutionary leader. 

Raucous and rather inconsistent  Western obviously tries to cash in on the success and style of the Italian Spaghetti Western genre, even utilizing their Clint Eastwood persona stereotype, all with mixed results, albeit entertaining enough along the way. 

Halliwell (no star): "Rough-and-tumble star Western with untenable moral attitudes."

Maltin**: "...ordinary Western; nice photography and a rousing scene where Eastwood drives a train through a barroom." 

Queen of Blood (1966)

An alien species makes contact with Earth through radio transmission, notifying of an imminent visit. An alien ship crash lands on Mars, and a rescue team is sent.

Above-average, imaginative sci-fi horror on a low budget makes good use of material from the Soviet science fiction film Nebo Zovyot and inspired all those alien monster loose on the spaceship flicks (including Alien).

Maltin**!/2: "Eerie space opera (utilizing effects footage cribbed from a big-budget Russian film)...Best thing is the bizarre climax, if you can wait that long."

The Unforgiven (1960)

The neighbors of a frontier family turn on them when it is suspected that their adopted daughter was stolen from the local Kiowa tribe.

Large-scale, star-cast, epic Western with a blatant anti-racist message is ambitious but somehow misses the point it wants to make.

Halliwell*: "Good-looking, expensive but muddled racist Western, hard to enjoy."

Maltin***: "Gish and Bickford are outstanding in stellar-cast story, with rousing Indian attack climax."

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

Several people are hunted by a cruel serial killer who kills his victims in their dreams.

The Night Caller (1965)

Mutant humanoids from outer space kidnap young Earth females in order to interbreed and save their species from extinction.
