Das geheime Leben der Bäume (2020)

When Peter Wohlleben published his book "The Hidden Life of Trees" in 2015, he quickly entered bestseller lists. The forester wrote vividly about his experience that trees are able to communicate with each other, a thesis explored here.

Fairly interesting documentary is more a portrait of the author than a serious and barely scientifically based presentation of its actual topic: the trees.

Life in Colour (2021)

Exploring the many ways animals use colour throughout their lives.

Fascinating short documentary series revealing recent scientific findings on the topic illustrated with some spectacular photography; the third and final episode is a bit of a summary of the techniques used for the series plus some remarks on the dangers of climate change.

Epos Dei - Die geheimnisvolle Ordnung hinter den Dingen (2010)

Several researchers get explain their look at their work and the related findings.

Pseudo-scientific documentary claims to reveal some hitherto "unknown" or rather "ignored" sensational scientific findings, but basically mixes some well-known facts with wild speculation and lets some self-acclaimed experts babble about their half-baked insights.

One man has seen more of the natural world than any other; this feature documentary is his witness statement.

More heartfelt and stirring plea than just a documentary David Attenborough presents his warning of the damage humankind has brought upon the planet as a summation of his life's work, including some spectacular nature photography.

Die Sinfonie der Ungewissheit (2018)

Set on the grounds of Hamburg's famous DESY, Claudia Lehmann embarks on a philosophical journey together with her PhD supervisor Gerhard Mack, one of Germany's most prolific and transboundary physicists.

More focused on the scientist, who is indeed a fascinating personality, than on the actual science this documentary presents an intimate porrtrait and some great music in its making.
