Dune (2021)

 

The son of a noble family is entrusted with the protection of the most valuable asset and most vital element in the galaxy.

Despite stunning visuals and excellent production this version still doesn't come up with a convincing interpretation of the epic novel. 

 

Doctor Sleep (2019)

 

Years following the events of The Shining (1980), a now-adult Dan Torrance must protect a young girl with similar powers from a cult known as The True Knot, who prey on children with powers to remain immortal. 

Homage and expansion of the story told in Stanley Kubrick's The Shining is very well-made staged and entertaining, but - in contrast to the original - it goes more with Stephen King's concept and is a no-holds-barred supernatural outing. 

The Greatest Showman (2017)

Celebrates the birth of show business and tells of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation.

Top-notch production, excellent cast and good songs all combined for - a musical glorification of a historically dubious character; just like in the heyday of the Hollywood musical, no more, no less.

Life (2017)

A team of scientists aboard the International Space Station discover a rapidly evolving life form that caused extinction on Mars and now threatens all life on Earth.

Standard sci-fi horror yarn in the vein of Alien and Gravity with a few, but not too many good moments.

The Girl on the Train (2016)

A divorcee becomes entangled in a missing persons investigation that promises to send shockwaves throughout her life.

Well-made psychological thriller has a complex plot, but manages to convey it slowly adding its puzzle parts to the picture.
