Legend of the Lost (1957)

An American ne'er-do-well Joe January is hired to take a man on an expedition into the desert in search of treasure.

Airport (1970)

A bomber on board an airplane, an airport almost closed by snow, and various personal problems of the people involved.

The movie that started the 70s series of all-star disaster movies and one of the best; sturdily produced, old-fashioned, with multiple plotlines, suspense, melodrama and some comic relief.

Halliwell***: "Glossy, undeniably entertaining, all-star version of a popular novel, with cradboard characters skilfully deployed in Hollywood's very vest style."

Maltin***1/2: "GRAND HOTEL plot formula reaches latter-day zenith in ultraslick, old-fashioned movie that entertains in spite of itself...Plastic performances dominate, with down-to-earth Kennedy, touching Stapleton, and nervous Heflin standing out."

Raid on Rommel (1971)

In 1942 Libya, a German-speaking British Intelligence officer uses former British POWs, some dressed in German uniforms, to fulfill a secret sabotage mission inside German-captured Tobruk.

Mediocre war adventure on a B-movie level - quite a waste of talent.

Halliwell (no star): "Dispirited low-budget actioner apparently first intended for television."

Maltin*1/2: "Poor excuse to utilize old desert footage (mostly from TOBRUK) and new faces in worn-out WW2 actioner."

Call Northside 777 (1948)

A Chicago reporter re-opens a ten year old murder case.

Captivating and superbly cast crime drama, a bit long, but always holds one's interest.

Halliwell**: "Overlong semi-documentary crime thriller based on a real case. Acting and detail excellent, but the sharp edge of Boomerang is missing."

Maltin***1/2: "Absorbing drama...handled in semi-documentary style."
