Nico, 1988 (2017)

The last year of singer Nico's life, as she tours and grapples with addiction and personal demons.

Remarkable bio-pic successfully focuses on the last year of the singer Nico/Christa Päffgen, a complex, controversial, but also fascinating character with Trine Dyrholm giving a breathtakingly convincing performance.

I Kina spiser de hunde (1999)

Two brothers, one cold and ruthless, the other sensitive and reluctant, and their brutal misadventures.

Violent drama with an almost absurd plot and some very dark humor is only entertaining for those who can stomach it.

Brecht (2019)

Starting from the year 1956, Brecht's year of death, the film looks back on the time of the First World War and the life Bertolt Brecht.

Docudrama is quite informative about the author's life and work, but is rather stiff as a film; the cast is excellent, though.

Hævnen (2010)

The lives of two Danish families cross each other, and an extraordinary but risky friendship comes into bud.

Stirring and intense study of pacifism amidst an otherwise relentlessly violent world.

Maltin***1/2: "...a story both gripping and harrowlingly believable, an exploration of violence that simmers just below the surface of polite society."
