Don't Kill It (2016)

An ancient demon terrorizes a tiny Mississippi town.

Tongue-in-cheek demon hunt with lots of gore, but basically, it's just run-of-the-mill fare.

Universal Soldier (1992)

Private Luc Deveraux and his sadistic sergeant, Andrew Scott, got killed in Vietnam. The army uses their bodies for a secret project - reanimating dead soldiers as deadly obedient cyborgs. However, their memories come back too.

Well-made, but silly action vehicle for its two muscle men would like to be as good as The Terminator, but isn't by a far cry.

Halliwell (no star): "Science-fiction hokum intended to boost the appeal of its two action stars, done with enough energy and containing more than enough mayhem to appeal to fans of action movies."

Maltin**: "Van Damme and Lundgren - well, it's not exactly Tracy and March in INHERIT THE WIND. Hunks are well cast as rival cyborgs...Has the requisite number of explosions. The director sly keeps the grocery store Muzak going during Lundgren's one big emoting scene - right after he eats raw meat from a bin."

Masters of the Universe (1987)

The heroic warrior He-Man battles against lord Skeletor and his armies of darkness for control of Castle Grayskull.

Risibly silly live action version of a TV cartoon series is fun to watch how bad it is.

Halliwell (no star): "Live action version of the TV cartoons of the toys of the comic strip. Pretty weak stuff, even for five-year-olds."

Maltin**: "Elaborate comic book nonsense (which has had another life in kiddie animation) is dumb but inoffensive."

Michael Weldon/Psychotronic: "Conan meets Star Wars. This whole movie is based on a line of Mattel toys. Despite that fact, it's not bad as mindless, PG-rated entertainment...A big laser battle in a used-record store is my favorite scene."

Red Scorpion (1988)

An elite Special Forces operative is chosen to assassinate an anti-Communist rebel leader, but defects after witnessing the brutality of his comrades, leading the resistance against their oppressors.

Mediocre actioner with an erratic plot and some kind of diffuse anti-colonial political message.

Halliwell (no star): "Incompetent action movie that staggers from one dull moment to another with a complete lack of conviction."

Maltin BOMB: "Bottom-of-the barrel actioner..."
