John Dies at the End (2012)


 

A new street drug that sends its users across time and dimensions has one drawback: some people return no longer human. Can two college drop-outs save humanity from this silent, otherworldly invasion?

This horror-comedy is wildly imaginative and made with evident talent, but it's hopelessly incoherent, unfunny and not really that exiting.

The Shape of Water (2017)



At a top secret research facility in the 1960s, a lonely cleaning lady forms a unique relationship with an amphibious creature that is being held in captivity.

A homage to 50s monster movies with an assured sense of style winkingly manages to modernize (and romanticize) the old genre into a work of cinematic art.
