Stalker (1979)
A guide leads two men through an area known as the Zone to find a room that grants wishes.
From memory: Slow, thoughtful, complex science fiction masterpiece with spectacular landscape cinematography and a dark, brooding atmosphere; probably Tarkovsky's best work.
Halliwell*: "Part political allegory, part personal fantasy, all very fascinating but rather hard tack for anybody in search of entertainment."
Maltin***: "Stark, eerie, cerebral story...Very slow but well acted and rewarding."
