Heavy Metal (1981)

A glowing green orb - which embodies ultimate evil - terrorizes a young girl with an anthology of bizarre and fantastic stories of dark fantasy, eroticism and horror.

From memory: This adult animated sci-fi anthology film promised to be a minor sensation and does offer some good animation and an interesting soundtrack (which is generally not Heavy Metal), but its gracious and blatantly sexist presentation of sex and violence and the primitive narratives appeal to a rather juvenile (male) audience and frighten mature viewers.

Halliwell*: "The experiment is interesting rather than successful."

Maltin***: "...uneven, but great fun on a mindless, adolescent level. Sexy sci-fi stories and vignettes in a variety of graphic styles, many set to rock music."
