The River (1951)

Three adolescent girls growing up in Bengal, India, learn their lessons in life after falling for an older American soldier.

A lesser known Jean renoir masterpiece, I can fully recommend it, wonderfully photographed in Technicolor.

Halliwell*: "A slight and Surprising work from this director, superbly observed and a pleasure to watch but dramatically very thin."

Maltin****: "Immensely moving, lyrical adaptation of Rumer Godden novel...One of the great color films, a total triumph for cinematographer Claude and director Renoir."
