Der Untergang (2004)

The final secretary for Adolf Hitler tells of the Nazi dictator's final days in his Berlin bunker at the end of WWII.

Although a topnotch production and a good cast (Bruno Ganz' idiosyncratic impersonation of Adolf Hitler, however, is on the verge of parody), the movie's depiction of a precarious moment in German history is dubious in its intentions.

After re-watching: my first impression still applies.

Swamp Women (1956)

An undercover policewoman helps three female convicts escape from prison so that they can lead her to a stash of stolen diamonds hidden in a swamp.

Exploitation movie with some really bad girls and a Louisiana bayou setting is slow-going and quite dated in its appeal.

Shattered by the unexpected news of their irreversible break-up, an aspiring orchestra conductor is puzzled by his girlfriend's mysterious and seemingly inexplicable case of disappearance.

Although atmospheric, mysterious and slightly suspenseful the circular plot simply doesn't convince and is disappointing.

Leave No Trace (2018)

A father and his thirteen year-old daughter are living an ideal existence in a vast urban park in Portland, Oregon, when a small mistake derails their lives forever.

Subtle and precisely observed, but also stirring examination of an existence outside of society and its boundaries with both leads giving excellent performances.

Mildly entertaining low-budget Western with an anti-racist message and a bumpy plot.

Halliwell (no star): "Routine Western, to which Corman added a subplot about racial prejudice, which may have improved its liberal credentials but does little for it as a movie."

Maltin BOMB: "Sometimes hilariously bad, but mostly a bore."
