Skyline (2010)
Strange lights descend on the city of Los Angeles, drawing people outside like moths to a flame where an extraterrestrial force threatens to swallow the entire human population off the face of the Earth.
Badly scripted sci-fi alien invasion movie with some great special effects (and monsters), but also with an odd, disconcerting ending.
Maltin BOMB: "Lame sci-fi thriller polfers from INDEPENDENCE DAY, TRANSFORMERS, and several other superior films, but the end result resembles nothing so much as a direct-to-video potboiler. Even the special effects aren't all that special."

China Moon (1994)
A detective falls for a beautiful woman, who is trapped in a violent marriage and shoots her husband, and relucantly agrees to help hide the body, but his partner is showing an unusual flair for finding clues.
Competently made and well-cast Neo-Noir crime drama which somewhat disappoints with its overtly artificial twist ending.
Halliwell*: "Accomplished but sometimes predictable foray into film noir, an agreeable time-waster."
Maltin**: "A couple of neat twists, but production is more than a bit reminiscent of (the superior) BODY HEAT - down to the Florida locale."
El Dorado (1966)
A gunfighter for hire joins forces with an old friend, a sheriff, and together with an old Indian fighter and a gambler, helps a rancher and his family fight a rival rancher that is trying to steal their water.
Sleepy and slow-paced Western which is constantly on the verge of forgetting the plot; nevertheless, the movie is quite entertaining thanks to the director's grip holding it altogether and the casts' easygoing professionalism.
Halliwell*: "Easy-going, semi-somnolent, generally likable but disappointing Western...an old man's movie all round."
Maltin***: "Typically smooth Hawks mix of comedy and action, with zesty Leigh Brackett script and exemplary performances, espacially by Mitchum, Caan as young gambler who can't shoot, and George as ultra-cool hired gun."
