Portrait de la jeune fille en feu (2019)
On an isolated island in Brittany at the end of the eighteenth century, a female painter is obliged to paint a wedding portrait of a young woman.
Masterfully directed period drama is an intellectual, unsentimental study of a lesbian romance on the surface, but also explores power and passion, creativity and germinal love.

Indien (1993)
Heinzi Boesel and Kurt Fellner are two Austrian health inspectors forced to work together, traveling through Austria. Over time a friendship evolves between the odd couple who couldn't stand each other initially; a friendship that even overcomes the boundaries of great tragedy.
Excellent tragicomedy may irritate (and shock) some with its rough, but authentic Austrian language and humor, but it's actually the story of an endearing friendship in the making and also transports a slight metaphysical message (with a wink).
