Pretend It's a City (2021)

Wry writer, humorist and raconteur Fran Lebowitz as she sits down with Martin Scorsese.

Immensely compelling and entertaining portrayal of NYC through the eyes of Fran Lebowitz, whose quick and wry wit alone carries the show.

The Toxic Avenger (1984)

Possessor (2020)

An agent works for a secretive organization that uses brain-implant technology to inhabit other people's bodies - ultimately driving them to commit assassinations for high-paying clients.

Off-kilter science fiction thriller with strong horror elements makes the best of its far-fetched premise to create some stunning visuals, gloomy atmosphere and a highly complex, perplexing twist ending.

Anna Paquin

Cropsey (2009)

Realizing the urban legend of their youth has actually come true; two filmmakers delve into the mystery surrounding five missing children and the real-life boogeyman linked to their disappearances.

Creepy true crime documentary certainly adds some horror elements to an already disturbing and ambiguous case; good, but slightly exploitative.

Holy Hell (2016)

An inside look at Buddhafield, a West Hollywood cult formed by a charismatic teacher in the 1980s that eventually imploded.

A bit haphazard documentary, maybe due to the fact that the director was an ex-member (and its "propaganda minister"), does give a glimpse into the surreal cult community, but also gives room to those who still defend its existence.

Saoirse Ronan

Birders (2019)

Bird watchers on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border share their enthusiasm for protecting and preserving some of the world's most beautiful bird species.

Interesting documentary shirt shines a light on the community of bird watchers beyond any barriers; highlight is mostly the good nature photography.
