Above-average horror drama pulling through its unusual premise (survival by silence) with competence and ease.

Concerned by a rising rock-n-roll influence on a growing liberal fanbase, President Nixon invited Johnny Cash to the White House to solidify his base in the traditionally more conservative genre of country music.
A singular historic episode is competently analyzed within the times' contact and biographical details and gives a good impression of the artist's personality - and his courageousness and integrity.

Bone Tomahawk (2015)
In the dying days of the old west, an elderly sheriff and his posse set out to rescue their town's doctor from cannibalistic cave dwellers.
Unusual Western is extremely well directed and photographed and has an excellent cast, but hardly prepares one for the gory end sequence.

October Sky (1999)
The true story of Homer Hickam, a coal miner's son who was inspired by the first Sputnik launch to take up rocketry against his father's wishes.
Halliwell (no star): "Based on the biography of a man who became a NASA engineer, this is a gently nostalgic flag-waver of smalltown Americana in the 50s, amiable but forgettable."
Maltin***1/2: "Sincere, heartwarming drama...Rich performances, well-drawn characters, and an old-fashioned sense of can-do American spirit make this something special."
Tasteful produced and well-cast movie with a touch of nostalgia; entertaining, but once again an American success story of an individual making his way against social obstacles.
